Our Music Director

Mr. John Austin Chappell is our Music Director. He was born on February 15, 1993 and he is from Fairmont, NC. He currently attends the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and is Majoring in Philosophy & Religion. He loves to play the french horn as his primary instrument, but also plays the trumpet and guitar. He previously attended Centerville Baptist Church, until God called him to our church to fill the position of Music Director. Austin dedicated his life to Jesus Christ at Hog Swamp Baptist Church in 1999 at Vacation Bible School. He believes that Jesus Christ died for all of man's sins and when He arose on the third day He was singing "It Is Finished" by Bill and Gloria Gaither. Music and the cross have been the backbone of his life. He lives by a saying from Johann Sebastian Bach, "Soli Deo Gloria", which is Latin for "To the Glory of God Alone".

Dear Church Family,

Dear Church Family, “I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being,” Psalms 104:33. Please continue to pray for Mr. Ronald Nealy and the family. His wife Mrs. Geraldine served the Lord as the pianist of East Lumberton Baptist for over 60 years. Her memory will live on through the music here at East Lumberton. Well we had a busy month in May, but the Lord got us through it. Now, looking forward to the month of June, please come out on June 12th to Butters Baptist Church, the East Lumberton Praise Ensemble has been asked to worship with the members of Butters at 7 pm. Please continue to pray for the music ministry of East Lumberton as we continue to serve the Lord. Praise God for the new members who have decided to join the choir, looking forward seeing more new faces join this month! If you would like to sing on Sunday nights please feel free to let me know. If you would like to join our Sanctuary Choir or the Praise Ensemble please feel free to let me know as well. There are plenty of ways to express our Lord and Savior through music. Please be in prayer for the Sunday school class, if you are interested in joining please come by and talk to me or the Preacher. I love you all and God Bless!

In Christ, Austin Chappell

Music is a huge part of our worship services here at East Lumberton. We have various ways to praise God with music, and we believe that music helps set the stage for the preaching of the Word of God. You can find out more information by Selecting our difference choirs and music groups below!
